This year, in support of the national focus on violence against girls and women, donations of hats, mitts, socks and underwear are being collected for distribution at women’s shelters. We can personally purchase an item but service implies going the ‘extra mile’. The Provincial Annual planning team would like to challenge you to use your time and talents to create your items for donation. Unit Guiders, parent volunteers, Trefoil Guilds, Resource Guiders can all play a role in helping our girls understand the meaning of ‘service’ and also learning new skills.

Katimavik is Canada's leading national youth volunteer program, for youth ages 17 - 21 who are looking to learn, volunteer and make a difference. During the 9-month program, Canadian youth travel to 3 different regions of the country, working at full-time volunteer placements with non-profit organizations in their local communities. The wicked Baron Snatcher and his two henchmen overthrow the benign Grand Old Duke with the help of the wicked fairy Maleficent. But the gypsy boy, aided by the good witch Old Mother Shipton thwarts the Baron’s plans and all ends happily. The Duke discovers his long lost son Colin who, in turns get the girl, Melody. Even Maleficent turns over a new leaf.
