What is the cost to join as an adult Member?
Ontario Council provides payment of the national registration fee for adults who are Members of the organization working in a capacity that supports girls. This would take into account the following roles:
- Unit Guider
- Unit Treasurer
- Administrative Community Leader
- Community Guider
- Resource Guider
- Provincial Level Volunteer
- Specialty Community Member
There is no national registration fee payable if you are:
- Aged 75 or older by December 31 of the current Guiding Year (your birth date must be registered in iMIS, our membership database, to qualify for this exemption)
- Honorary Life Award recipients
The national registration fee for the 2011-2012 Guiding year is $50.

What is the process to become an Adult Member?
- Complete and sign the Membership Application Form (A.1) (which includes agreement to the GGC Code of Conduct) and Image Release Form (IR.1)
- Provide 2 personal references who will be contacted by staff
- Submit a Police Records Check
- Review the Orientation to Guiding - you will have an opportunity to ask questions as part of your interview
- Take part in an interview with a Member of Girl Guides of Canada
- Pay the national registration fee, if applicable
- If you are working with girls, complete risk management training (Safe Guide) within 6 months of join date. Training sessions are available face to face, online or by conference call
What is a Police Records Check (PRC) and how do I get one?
All adult Members (including Members who are Honorary Life Award recipients) are required to have completed a Police Records Check (PRC) or a PRC Exemption. Members returning to Guiding must also complete the appropriate adult screening process.

Does every person that wishes to volunteer HAVE to become a Member?
There are some roles that a person may assume without becoming a Member such as Treasurer, Home Contact Person or Extreme Specialty Community members.
All non-members must submit a completed A.7 (non-member form) and Treasurers and Extreme Specialty Community members must also submit a Police Records Check.

What is a Resource Guider?
An Adult Member who wishes to offer girls a special activity in the Unit or at Camp. A list of Resource Guider "offerings" can be found here. If you are interested in providing Unit Guiders with information on what you wish to offer, please submit this form. If you have questions, contact the Adult Engagement Coordinator.
